Postings can be made to a member country of the EU, EEA, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Gibraltar, or to any other destination outside the above, although this may vary depending on bilateral or multilateral agreements between countries.

The A1 document, also known as the Temporary Posting of Workers Certificate, certifies the posting of workers between member countries of the European Union for a period not exceeding 24 months. It is mandatory to notify the Social Security in order to post the worker.

The main function of the A1 document is to avoid duplication and ensure correct social security contributions. It allows the employee to be covered by the social security system of the country of origin and to maintain his/her rights throughout the period of posting, including health care if necessary.

Form A1 must be submitted through the electronic social security office. In order to complete the application correctly, it is necessary to indicate the start and end dates of the assignment, as well as the exact address where the work activity will be carried out, either at the place of work or at a residence.
